I am Kenyan by birth, brought up in Central Kenya within the vicinity of Kenya’s famous land mark “Mt Kenya”.
I am a self taught artist and I paint using oils, acrylics and water colour. My passion to paint goes back to my early childhood -having been inspired by my elder brothers who used to draw rough sketches using charcoal on our kitchen walls. That for me was good enough to learn the basics and have a proper art foundation.
Kenya , a country of diverse culture with beautiful people, landscape and plenty of wildlife has also greatly influenced and boosted my career in art in so many ways. Further, back in primary school, my teachers encouraged me to continue painting as they took my drawings to decorate their houses.
Later after high school I was employed as a colour technician in a local textile industry where I worked for a few years. It was during that period that I was introduced to another artist who painted on a full time basis and was earning much more compared to my colour technician job. This realization made me to quit my job and join him as a full time artist.
The start up was not as easy as I thought but through alot of encouragement by this artist , I carried on till I sold my first painting for Kshs. 1000 , this being a super deal made me never to look back.
I have participated in various exhibitions e.g Kenya Museum Society, Rahimtulla Museum of Modern Art, Kenya Wildlife Society and many more. I have also exhibited my artwork with selection by private and co-oporate institutions who have become my local clients, my paintings can also be found in selected galleries in Nairobi, Kenya. |
